Okay, it’s official: my obsession with bags has reached new and extravagant heights. Let me explain: the other day I was choosing an outfit for my friend’s wedding, an undeniably important event, and I was completely hitting a wall – you know when you end up pulling everything you own out on to the bed and suddenly four hours have passed, the kids are hungry, you’re hungry, and all you can think is ‘oh I wish I had bought those leggings in EVERY color!’ – I think we’ve all been there.

2. Let the bag take center stage

Sometimes the problem isn’t that there’s not enough inspiration, but that there is too much. Try choosing one detail and going with it – a fleck of color, metal, fringe – but don’t go too crazy with the clothes, keep it al about the bag, ensuring that the outfit supports the bag.

3. Try to keep the bag and the outfit in the same style

If it’s a hobo bag, keep it casual, but trendy, if it’s a clutch it is probably gonna be evening wear, a messenger is inherently sporty, the Boston or LV carry-all is perfect for a ‘resort’ look (even if we can’t afford the resort). This one may seem obvious, but it’s definitely important.

4. Have fun!

Fashion is joyous and exhilarating! So get into it and break all my rules if you feel like it.

Tonight was my last night in Sydney.? Sydney is just simply magnificent.? As I walked around the harbor, I admired at the lights of the scenery.? PS: Full Disclosure. The album La Semana, which I still consider to be one of my finest moments, is a grid and loop recording. After my son was born I was withdrawn and did not want to deal with an engineer or with musicians – except for Jon of course, but he is family – and so I did the entire album by myself, except for the bass performances. All of the percussion tracks you hear were recycled and looped from earlier performances, mostly Dave from The Santa Fe Sessions, but also other stuff from my 15 year library of sounds (everything from 1990 on has been digitized and is available to me in 24/48 quality). In order to make the percussion loops less obvious I did a lot of new palmas and made many thousands of small edits to the loops in order to have enough variation. It was an incredible experience making that album, from the depth of lost to the joy of finding.

By the way, a little while ago Jon showed me the intro for a Transit2 piece that keeps playing in my mind. He contrasted human drumming with drummachine bits and had fieldsounds and synth floating over and behind it…,Gucci Handbags; some parts were changing as a filter slowly modulated the frequencies. Very very cool. Transit2 will be an amazing album.

Jon is like a lightning rod for me. I have a lot of ideas around that man and it’s always fun to knock around ideas with him. Today we were talking about how looping musical parts has become so easy and as a result so boring that much of the music is just a few bars repeated over and over. Anybody with a laptop can do it. Now, what would be more interesting is to contrast very open “timeless” improvised sections with very tight loopy groove sections. Yes, Jazz musicians do that a lot – improvising open parts, BUT they don’t usually enjoy a pretty chorus anymore. So, the idea would be to contrast improvised group recordings with very tight, and yes, predictable chori. Imagine walking out on thin ice and then finding a path, then floating on ice and then finding a bridge. Wilderness/Home/Wilderness/Home. Searching. Finding. Repeat. Following a verse that stretches time and melody, we arrive at a chorus that beckons and seduces and is comforting and familiar. Naturally, because different recording methods would be used for verse and chorus, the instruments would sound different from section to section, but I don’t think that would bother me. It would add to mystery. This would truly be digital recording. The medium is the message. I mean working with a beat/bar grid is obviously something digital, but it’s kindergarten digital rather than advanced digital. I am talking about a hybrid technique of recording that combines the quality of making music in the moment (no grid) with the comfort of a pop chorus (grid). Using both instead of one OR the other.

I suspect that grids and loops might be the sort of thing people might not enjoy as much 20 years hence. Those were the barbaric early days of digital recording, they might say then. They had discovered grids and loops and it took 10 years for audience and musicians to get sick of that and move on.

There are some radio stations that play exclusively grid and loop music and you can nod your head to same beat for hours… like a clock…

Love and all the associated emotions has played a part in many murders since the beginning of time. This basic human emotion is perhaps most responsible for terrible acts committed in its name.

It is perhaps not surprising that this played a part in Fred’s trial. Most of the evidence was heard during the court sessions on the 19 March and 19 April, 2007.

The court heard that Inge had had many suitors during her first year at university – including the best friend of Fred van der Vyver. Wimpie Boshoff, Inge’s best friend, was called to the stand to shed light on whether Marius Botha was still secretly in love with her. (He was the guy she had lunch with on the day of the murder).

Marius Botha

Inge had studied with both Marius and Fred from 2001 to 2004. In 2005 Marius became Fred’s flatmate. (He is the guy who helped Fred deliver the kitchen cupboard)

Wimpie stated that back in 2001, Marius had been in love with Inge. At the time he had written her love letters and poems. One letter was possible one meter long, including a poem. This however was not confirmed by Wimpie. He just said “I’m not sure. I know it was a long letter with a poem.”

“Inge told me Marius said to her that their friendship would never be the same again after she started dating Fred,” Boshoff said.

Dup de Bruyn, the defence advocate asked Wimpie whether Marius was still secretly in love with Inge at the time of her murder in 2005. He replied that Marius “definitely hadn’t been in love with her since 2002″,Gucci Handbags; and that they had become friends instead.

Jean Minnaar

Jean had also been a classmate of Inge and in 2005 had lived in the same complex as Fred and Marius. It emerged that he too had been in love with Inge during their first year of university.

“She was a very beautiful girl. In 2001 Botha, Minnaar and many others were in love with Inge,” Boshoff said to amused laughter in court.

(Jean was the guy who asked Fred to buy the kitchen cupboard on the morning of the murder and to deliver it to him the same evening).

Fred’s Relationship

Wimpie mentioned in court that he thought that Inge and Fred had a “perfect relationship”. He also mentioned that Inge had confided in him that she was planning to get engaged to Fred in 2006.

However, while on the stand, he said that he did not tell a private investigator that Inge had confided that she had had a “hell of a fight” with Fred

Evidence of this fight was supported by the letter that Inge had given to Fred on the morning of the murder.

He had gone into more detail of the fight in his testimony a month earlier.

According to Wimpie, he and Inge had had lunch on the day of her murder. He said that at the lunch, Inge had told him that she thought that the relationship with Fred was over. He laughed it off,Replica Burberry, “But she said they had a hell of a fight that morning and that he had then left.

“I told her she mustn’t fight with Fred because I thought they were well-suited. She said that during the fight Fred had told her that she had to think about whether she wanted the relationship.

“Inge said she had taken a letter to him at the university (of Stellenbosch) where he was attending a lecture. She said that when Fred took the letter he said he would think about it. That was the last time I saw her,” Boshoff said.

Apparently, the cause of the fight was because Fred had found out that Inge had given Marius a kiss. This was found in a message on Fred’s computer sent by Inge. She did go on to say that the kiss was innocent and that there was no need for him to be jealous.

Observations and Comments:

1) It seems that there was trouble in paradise. As mentioned earlier, love is a very important factor in many murders due to the intensity of the emotions involved. Was this the case with Fred? Was he angry enough to kill her? I guess it is possible, but when you read the text messages, it seems that he wasn’t particularly angry.

2) Where was Wimpie Boshoff at the time of the murder? I am sure there was an investigation into his alibi, but it would have been really interesting to hear it! By his own admission he was her best friend. Could he have been in love with her himself? Could he have been jealous about her relationship with Fred?

3) Marius Botha had clearly been infatuated with Inge. After all,Mulberry Handbags, he wrote her the long (one meter???) letter with poem back in 2001. Maybe he did in fact keep his feelings secret – after all you wouldn’t want your best friend and room mate finding out you were in love with his girl! This premise of mine is reinforced when considering that he had recently been kissed by Inge. This was supposedly the cause of the fight!

I wonder what his alibi is? Again, I am sure the police had investigated this avenue. I am just curious.

4) Jean Minnaar – same as for Marius. Was he also secretly in love still?

5) It seems as though there was a lot of interest in Inge. After all, she was a beautiful girl! But could this open up the possibility of other suspects? It seems as though there could be a number of people with ‘love’,replica handbag; as a motive.

6) One thing does confuse me. If Fred was so angry at Inge about the supposed kiss with Marius, why does he meet with Marius later to move the cupboard to Jean’s house? Surely he would have been just as angry – or more so – that his flatmate and friend had been kissing/stealing his girlfriend? Neither Marius or Fred have mentioned that they had an kind of argument or fight.

To me this doesn’t sound like a guy who was overly angry and emotional. But then again maybe he had just bottled it up inside. The thing is, when dealing with emotions, it is really hard to tell! Just in this case we can see how suspicion can easily be cast on nearly every player!
